Hike Along the Deschutes

It's been cold lately, -3 this morning and a high in the 20s, but Karen and I wanted to get out. This section of the Deschutes is just a few minutes out of town, but it feels much more remote.

Yesterday we went skiing. It was 1 degree with a -25 wind chill. Brain freeze!

Sydney's Ski Race 1.21.06

Here's Sydney's second race. Not sure why it has the blue tint.

Sydney's Ski Race

Here's Sydney in her first slalom ski race on Jan. 8. It was snowing pretty hard and the course was slow. This was also captured using my digital camera (see below) rather than camcorder, so the quality is a little lower.

Technical Problems Resolved

For over a month now I have not been able to make any postings as Sean has been making some updates to his vBlog Central service. But, things seem to be back to normal now. So here's a posting I initially tried to make on January 1:

It's a tradition for some members of the Central Oregon Flyfishers to fish on New Year's Day - rain or shine - so I decided to tag along this year. With all the rain and snow we've had lately, I knew rivers would be high and the fishing would not be good, but getting out cleared my head after having too much fun on New Year's Eve.

This video was made with my new Nikon CoolPix 5600 camera. The video capability on this camera has turned out to be surprisingly good. It's not as nice as a camcorder, but acceptable for this sort of application.

Happy New Year!
